Incorporated in 1725, Easton has a long history. George Washington stayed there during the
Revolutionary War. In 1803, Ames Shovel Works started providing shovels for the Union Pacific
Railroad which made the west accessible. Easton is home to many historic buildings including
several by famed architect HH Richardson, and parks landscaped by Frederick Law Olmsted.
Easton is the home of Stonehill College.
